I am a French interior architect and designer. In my work, I try to reinvent the art of furniture with a grace that cannot often be found nowadays.
I was born in Lyon in 1970 and, from an early age I have always been engrossed and enchanted by the architectural richness of Paris. I have tried to create the same depth in my own creations, synthesising the heritage of French decorative arts with a luminous modernity.
In 2015, I set up my own interior design agency and launched Jérôme Bugara Éditions, a collection of furniture and objects where every detail demands the utmost attention. For me, luxury is neither gaudy nor ostentatious: it lies in precision, simplicity and discreet excellence.
My pieces are a story of sensuality, comfort and design and I hope are made unique by their serene elegance and absolute mastery of noble materials: veined marble, translucent onyx, sparkling rock crystal and rare wood come to life in them, if they are subtly lit and suitably placed.
Each work becomes a timeless work of art.
My collections are intimate and that is why they are often named after my family: my wife, daughter and son. So, each piece to me is a personal but also a universal story. However, not just that. I hope it gives an extra humanity that makes them unique and unforgettable.
First, I am an artisan - a demanding perfectionist - and so I surround myself with the greatest masters, such as Rémy Garnier, a legendary bronzesmith, for my Versailles collection; and with the lacemakers of Calais-Caudry, with whom I imagined a wine rack adorned with delicate lace. These alliances celebrate an ancestral know-how, which I try my utmost to reinvent, preserving tradition but with a contemporary freshness.

The journey of creation for me does not end with design: I am intimately involved in the physical creation of my art from first imagining a concept to its final incarnation.

“I've always defended French know-how by working with French companies. I'm driven by the spirit of French talent".
